Vintage Hawaiian Raffia Grass Skirt farm equipment and scuffsVintage grass skirt made crafted of raffia, a fiber made from Raffia palm fronds. Despite being a part of the cultural stereotype for Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders at large, they only came about in Hawaiian culture after introduction by Gilbert Islanders in the last half of the 1800s. They were also likely not used in traditional dances until they began performing on the vaudeville circuit beginning in the early 20th century. Regardless, they have
